THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office is now collecting and processing 2015-2016 tax payments at its East County Satellite Office. The Satellite Office is located within the District 2 offices of Supervisor Linda Parks at 625 W. Hillcrest Dr. in Thousand Oaks at the corner of Lynn Rd.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. through April 11, 2016. The office is open on Monday, April 11, because the official tax deadline of April 10 falls on a Sunday.
Because the County Government Center is located in the western part of Ventura County, the Satellite Office has been opened through the last few tax cycles to provide a more convenient location for East County constituents to pay property taxes. The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office estimated that taxpayers were driving, on average, 45 miles roundtrip and spent an hour of travel time to make payments at the main Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office in Ventura. Additionally, 42 percent of Ventura County constituents are estimated to reside in the East County region. With so much of the population residing so far away from the main office, action was taken to expand operations into the East County so constituents could pay their taxes more easily and not have to take as much time, use as much gas, or take as much time off from work to do it.
“Everything we can do for people in the Ventura office, we can do here,” said Tax Manager Karen Carr.
Wait times at the East County Satellite Office are very short, often less than a few minutes, and there is ample parking in the lot behind the building.
