VENTURA, Calif. – The first phase of the solar power installation in Parking Lot F at the County Government Center has been completed. The second phase is scheduled for completion in April. The finished project will provide about 10 percent of the electricity for the Government Center and offer 500 covered parking spaces.
The project is a collaborative effort between the County's Public Works Agency and its General Services Agency. Together they are overseeing the construction of an array that will ultimately consist of 3,620 solar panels. Additionally the entire parking lot will be repaved and restriped.
The solar array will reduce the impact of future electricity rate increases and help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Construction costs for the project are expected to be $4.8 million when complete.
